Karongi District, February 26, 2025– The Rwanda Extractive Industry Workers Union (REWU) with the support of the World Vision Rwanda conducted an orientation Training of the new volunteers involved in child protection.
Beneficiaries of the training are members of the Rwandan Association for Endogenous Development (ARDE/KUBAHO).
The session aimed to educate the volunteers on children’s rights and equip them with essential strategies to prevent child abuse.
During the meeting, REWU and World Vision emphasized the severe consequences of child abuse, including its potential to result in fatalities.
Volunteers were also trained in key intervention strategies, such as promptly reporting cases to relevant authorities to ensure swift action in rescuing affected children.
A World Vision Sponsorship Coordinator in the Kivu cluster highlighted the volunteers’ vital role in community child protection and stressed the importance of collaborating with partners to prevent cases of abuse.
Participants welcomed the training, expressing appreciation for the valuable knowledge and skills gained in safeguarding children’s well-being.
This initiative reinforces the commitment of REWU, World Vision, and ARDE/KUBAHO to strengthening child protection systems and fostering safer communities for children in Rwanda.
