On March 5, 2025, impactful training events took place in both the Nyamasheke district and the Rutsiro district, aimed at enhancing the knowledge and skills of volunteers working to safeguard children’s rights in Rwanda.

In Nyamasheke, a collaborative training event was organized by World Vision and REWU in the Nyungwe cluster. This event targeted World Vision partners in the Byungwe and Jyambere Areas of Program, focusing on Adult and Child Safeguarding and Behavior Protocols. Participants included TFE Partners from the Catholic Church, specifically Hanika Parish, and TFE Partners from the Eglise Methodiste Libre Au Rwanda (Kibogora). The key message conveyed was that “a child who is cared for and nurtured is the future vision of Rwanda and the world at large.” This training is part of the World Vision Rwanda and REWU Partnership program, aimed at protecting and safeguarding children.

Meanwhile, in the Rutsiro district’s TUNGA Cluster, materials related to the Peace Road Curriculum were distributed to train volunteers on child rights and strategies to combat violence against children. Participants included the Sector Lead of World Vision for child protection in the Tunga Cluster and volunteers from the Gihango and Mushubati sectors. They addressed the urgent issues of child sexual abuse, verbal abuse, and the exploitation of children through child labor. This initiative also falls under the ongoing partnership between World Vision and REWU, highlighting their commitment to protecting children’s rights and combating violence against them.

These events underscore the collaborative efforts being made to empower communities and protect the most vulnerable members of society—children—ensuring that their rights are upheld and their futures safeguarded.
