On February 27, 2026, the Nyungwe Cluster in Nyamasheke District (Jyambere AP) successfully hosted a vital training session in the meeting hall of GS Nyanza school. Organized by REWU in partnership with World Vision Rwanda/Nyungwe Cluster, the event focused on training mentors of Child Protection (CP) Clubs operating within schools and local communities.
The primary purpose of this initiative was to equip mentors with the skills necessary to train and guide children’s representatives at the sector and cell levels. By doing so, these representatives will be better positioned to help children advocate for their rights and address unresolved issues affecting their well-being. During the comprehensive session, trainees were reminded of several key pillars:
- Children’s rights, with a special emphasis on the right to express their views and be heard.
- Children’s responsibilities.
- Child protection and safeguarding.
- The functioning of children’s committees.
The Nyungwe Cluster is also gearing up for two major community outreach events in early March:
- March 4, 2026: World Vision and the Nyungwe Cluster will participate in a friendly volleyball match against the Police operating in the Nyamasheke district (DPU). Following the match, the team will deliver a special community talk.
- March 6, 2026: The cluster will take part in the national celebration of the school feeding program. The celebrations will be held in the Rusizi district, Bugarama sector, at GS St Paul Muko.
