On 27th October 2020 in Karembo, Ngoma District, a meeting brought together the leaders of Rwanda Extractive Industry Workers Union (REWU) represented by Deputy Executive Secretary and REWU regional Coordinator of Eastern province, the Executive Committee of the ABAHIZI Mining Cooperative and Labor Inspector of Ngoma District.

 They discussed best practices to promote employment and increase productivity and how employees’ rights are respected.

The meeting also touched on the promotion of social dialogues between the Trade Union committee in the cooperative  and the Administration of cooperative in the decision-making process regarding workers. 

On the agenda also there was the issue of an employee who had been illegally dismissed. The matter was resolved and the dismissed employee was reinstated immediately in the previous held position in the cooperative.
