REWU Team, Rutongo Mines Workers discuss labor and well-being of Employees

On Tuesday, May 4th, 2021, the Deputy Secretary General of Rwanda Extractive Industry Workers Union (REWU) and Lawyer Mr. Bwanakweli Jean Marie and the REWU Coordinator in the Eastern and Northern Provinces Mr. Musabyimana Deogratias continued their visit to the Rutongo Mines Ltd in Rulindo District.

During the visit, they interacted with miners whom they had not met in the previous week due to the nature of their work.

They were briefed on Rwanda’s Labour Law and the importance of joining hands as members of REWU Trade Union as it facilitates access to a variety of services including advocacy, facilitation of dialogue between employees and the employer and having a unified voice especially when there is a need for advocacy.

The Mining workers salute the discussions with the REWU trade union leaders who are committed to working together in order to find lasting solutions to their needs.

They also asked REWU to be closer to them in order to improve the well-being of their families and provide them with the equipment they will need to pay in installments.
