September 27, 2025, fans witnessed an exhilarating clash in the Rwanda Mining Football Competition 2025 quarter-finals, showcasing the fierce spirit of Rwanda’s mining industry’s football stars. The much-anticipated match saw Rutongo Mines FC secure a 3-1 victory over GAMICO FC in a match filled with passion, skill, and strategic play.
The game, held at the local football pitch in Kigali’s Nyarugenge District, was a rollercoaster of excitement from the kickoff. Rutongo Mines FC took an early lead in the 10th minute with a brilliant goal igniting the crowd’s enthusiasm. The first half saw relentless attack and counterattack, with both teams creating numerous scoring opportunities. By the 35th minute, Rutongo Mines had doubled their lead, ending the first half with a 2-0 advantage.

In the second half, GAMICO FC fought hard to turn the tide. Despite their efforts and some tactical adjustments, Rutongo Mines FC extended their lead around the 35th minute of the second half, scoring their third goal. GAMICO FC managed to score a consolation goal late in the game, but the match ended at 3-1 in favor of Rutongo Mines FC.
Post-match, GAMICO FC’s player and team official Twizeyimana Innocent expressed optimism for the upcoming second leg. “The game was tough, but we played well. We’re focusing on correcting our mistakes and coming back stronger in the rematch. Our team is committed to turning the momentum in our favor,” he stated.

Meanwhile, Trinity Rutongo Mines FC’s manager, Ms. Jeanne Uwimana, expressed her confidence: “We’re pleased with today’s result, but we respect GAMICO FC. The second leg will be crucial, and we’ll prepare thoroughly to advance to the semi-finals.”
