Rwanda Extractive Industry Workers Union participates in workshop to boost investment in Early Childhood Development
The Rwanda Extractive Industry Workers Union (REWU) took part in a two-day workshop aimed at strengthening partnerships between the public and private sectors, as well as civil society, to enhance investment in Early Childhood Development (ECD) programs.
The workshop, which took place on October 29 and 30, 2024, provided participants with valuable insights on how to connect civil society organizations and private sector stakeholders, such as mines and quarry site owners in the REWU context, with local administration through the Joint Action Development Forum (JADF). This collaboration is essential for the effective implementation of ECD programs and coordination.
Organized by “Help a Child” in partnership with UNICEF, the workshop focused on boosting investment in ECDs to ensure better program coverage and coordination. By bringing together key stakeholders from different sectors, the workshop aimed to foster collaboration and drive sustainable development in early childhood education in Rwanda.
Participants at the workshop learned about the importance of investing in ECD programs, as well as the role that public-private partnerships can play in supporting these initiatives. By working together, stakeholders can leverage their resources and expertise to create a more holistic approach to early childhood development that benefits children and families across Rwanda.
Overall, the workshop was seen as a success, with participants leaving with new ideas and strategies for enhancing investment in ECD programs. The REWU looks forward to continuing its partnership with “Help a Child” and UNICEF to further support early childhood development in Rwanda.
